More than 150 six-week courses delivered across Bristol and South Gloucestershire, giving young drivers a safe, confident start before the first on-road lesson.
Bristol Under 17 Driving began in 1996 to give local teenagers real driving skills and road-safety awareness before they ever meet live traffic.
The course is run by the North Avon Driving Instructors' Association (NADIA), local, fully qualified instructors, and supported by South Gloucestershire Council's Road Safety Education Team. Practicals run on a private road network hosted by Hanson UK at Chipping Sodbury; theory is held at Yate Library.
Over 150+ courses later, the formula still works: classroom theory that builds genuine hazard awareness, paired with calm, supervised in-car practice. Students arrive at 17 already comfortable behind the wheel.
